The best Madden for years, 26 Aug 2008
I must admit that although I am a huge fan of the Madden NFL series, over the past few years I haven't really noticed any differences, other than graphics and rosters, when I have purchased the new game each year, leaving me feel a little ripped-off for trading in last year's edition for less than a tenner to fork out £40 or more for the new one, but with Madden 09 it is completely worth it.
There are now so many more updates than previous years (as well as updated graphics and rosters) including the" My Skill" difficulty setting which assesses you while you play to give you a personalised difficulty, so when playing either on single player or online, it gives you opponents at a similar skill level as yourself. There is also the Virtual Training which is good for practicing plays and the better play help whilst in-game, which will break down the number of plays to the best ones to use for rookies and intermediates to the game. There is also a Fantasy Football league for real fans of the sport which is played online against the rest of the Madden community on EA. The Rewind feature is great if you are new to Madden games as you can rewind the last play you made if you did a mistake. This is good if you are practicing against a computer opponent but I strongly recommend turning this off if you are against a human player as it may cause all sorts of arguments! The Backtrack feature is probably my favourite as it shows you where you have gone wrong in the last play if you make a mistake and gives advice on what you should have done. I've been playing these games for about 15 years (since the Megadrive days) and I still am learning a lot of helpful tips thanks to this!
The graphics are probably the best I have seen in a sports game ever with so much detail in everything from the players, the stadiums, even the grass! The sound is good too with fluent commentary (which can become annoying at times) and the music is not bad.
Online play is very fluid with no lag that I've experienced yet. The servers seem full of other players (mainly Americans) so there is never a problem on setting up a new game.
Overall this is definitely the best sports game I have played for a long time and is extremely addictive once you get into it with plenty of game modes to get stuck into. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a decent sports game, whether you watch American Football or not.
Much improved over Madden 08, 15 Aug 2008
I have been playing the madden games from the start and if you have played any of the other years games you will feel right at home. The core game play is the same as the other years on Madden 09 but then that could be said of all the EA sports range, BUT there are a lot of changes over last years that make it a much better game, the frame rate is up over last years PS3 version, the game is very fast and the animations are excellent (only in the replays that you control does it slow sometimes) they have added a load of new animations and this cuts down on the ball Jumping into the hands of receivers, or leaving the kickers foot with a missed animation. The D line is better and the control that you have over linemen/backs and Offence players is excellent, maybe too much for an average player. The IQ test is ok but the running is far too easy in the test so it will set it at All Madden, its better to use the sliders to find a custom level. The stadiums and the grass look amazing and the weather is excellent, the players uniforms dirty as they play in the rain and mud which adds to the realism. I have noticed players pick up more injures during games which is good as well not major ones but ones that will keep them out for a few plays, meaning your back-ups matter more. The player Pictures, stats, Finance screens and the end of game screens are better as well. There are still a few problems with the IA like on punts the computer running out of bounds when they could cut up field and the occasional cheating by the computer on some plays exits but it's not enough to ruin the game. If you like madden then this is an improvement over last years, it's not a massive leap forward but they never are, but some of this years touches make this the best in a long time, you feel like your getting some real updates that improve the game for your money. One other sore point was the patch wasn't available over here when I received my game, so no Farve at the jets and Taylor is still at the fins amongst others, but I'm sure it will be out soon if it isn't already. See you online maybe?

This is Great!, 27 Aug 2008
This is an absolutly fantastic game. I have only had it for one day and I cant stop playing it. The Get in the Ring mode is alot harder than third person because you cant see if your oppenent is leaning back or not but is alot more realistic. It puts you in third person and makes you take every blow like you are in the game. The career mode is also great! I havent done much of it yet but the parts I have done are very good. The characters are very realistic and the arenas make you feel like you are actually in the arena.
I really reccommend this to everyone out there even if you know nothing about boxing.
Best fighting game on ps3 by far, 15 Aug 2008
Since i got bored of all of my other games i needed abother game to play so i bought fight night and it was a great decision.
The graphics are the best iv seen. When you hit a counter punch and slow motion kicks in it is that detailed that you can see the sweat and blood on the fighters face. The controls are not to hard and you get used to it after a couple of fights. Sound in the game is also great. Your boxer would grroan loudly if hit hard. There are many places to hit your opponent; left, right ribs, stomach, cheeks, chin. There are many punches to throw such as counter punch, upper cut, left jab, right jab, left hook, right hook. You can fight the likes of sugar ray and ricky hatton and you can make your own boxer and gain experience, money and reputation.
This game is an absolute must buy to experience the adreneline rush of trying to knock out your opponent in a fun amazin 12 rounds. When your opponent is down you feel like your the boxing king.
Brilliant, 20 Feb 2008
was a bit hesitant because of the mix reviews this game had but i must admit its a absoulte excellent game and it rocks on the ps3 the game is so addictive i havent even touched online mode yet its just so fun beating on other players the slow motion hits are amazing a must have
Lets get ready to RUMBLE!!, 30 Jan 2008
This was one of the first games i bought for my PS3 as i have been a fan of the series since Fight Night 2004 on the PS2. This is basically the same with a few added extras and much better graphics. To be honest, i'm not even a boxing fan but i still enjoy this game as its fun to pummel people!
If you are a boxing fan then this is definately the game to get as there aren't any other decent boxing games out at the moment (there aren't actually ANY other boxing games for the PS3). The controls take a little while to get used to but once you get into the game it's much more rewarding winning fights when you're not just button bashing the whole time. Despite what others have said on this page the graphics are really good. you can see each individual drop of sweat on the boxers and cuts and swelling also look really good. Its also good fun to play this game with other paople and the online mode i've found to be very reliable. There aren't any issues with lag and you can always find people to fight.
Overall, a good game that i would recommend to anyone but especially fans of boxing.
An OK boxing game but not KO, 29 Jan 2008
This an ok game but not great!
To start of with the controls are brillant to start with something positive but thats it.
the graphics are not great, infact for the 'next gen' its poor.
i got bored with it after 2 days play, having compleated it!
My advise is buy it only if you realy realy like boxing!!

Great Graphics but gets boring quickly, 23 Aug 2008
Graphics in this game will completely blow your mind but play it for more than 10 hours and I assure you, you will get bored. I still believe that burnout 3 was the best burnout ever, I would not recommend that you buy this game. Buy something like Gran Turismo 5 or Race Grid.
The Perfect Game, 29 Jul 2008
I bought this game and didn't start playing until six months after the day I bought it, I didnt think I will get into and I kept leaving for later...One day I was really bored and didn't have anything else to do, and that is when the addiction started...
This game is perfect, first of all the offline mode has alot of things that will keep you busy, the races, the challenges, the speeding, everything...then if for any reason you get bored of the offline mode, go online, that is when another addiction will start...there are around 350 online challenges and another new 70 online timed challenges...that is alone will kee you busy enough...
There is also another cool new feature which is playing your own soundtracks in the game, you can also check your progress online through the developers website...there is also the new trophies system which will be retroactive meaning that whatever you finished you will be rewarded for without having to play through it again...
one last thing I liked about this game is if you are intoo collecting stuff such as the billboards, jumps and smashes and u have a few of them left for you to collect, you can upload your saved file into the developer's website and they will generate a map for you directing you to where are the left items for you to go and collect, and this feature is only for the PS3 version of the game...so enjoy that PS3 lovers...
I will give this game a 5/5 stars rating, it deserves every single star...
Best Racing Game This Generation, 12 Jul 2008
Simply fantastic. The sense of speed is amazing and drifting feels so satisfying. Challenges are great and there are loads of things to do in Paradise City besides just racing. Online mode is extremely fun and the developers create some fantastic updates for you to download for FREE, for example, the update on thursday brought custom soundtrack to the game aswell as loads more cars and challenges. An update coming next month will include MOTORBIKES, pure bliss.
Excellent driving game with fantastic developer support.
Burnt-Out, 09 Jul 2008
Why does this game feel so empty?
I've played many a burnout game beforehand.
It took me a while to figure out why.
A Lack of structure.
Its bereft of different things to do
Its missing features such as Crash mode, something i loved.
Its also missing aftertouch badly.
For some reason the streets feel lifeless, maybe because it feels like theres a lil less cars, not as much other damage to cause and enjoy.
A fine online mode and the excellent graphics save it...
well almost, they need to destory the "DJ" who almost ruins the experience for me... he needs an off switch.
Still a fine game though and with great updates planed so its well worth it for the right price.
Burnout Heaven with a liitle bit of Hell missing, 25 May 2008
I've been a master of all the series so far and have marvelled at the quality that each offering made to take it to the next level. Paradise is an interesting offering for next gen consoles. Open city (GTA style) and open levels. You decide at any given moment whether you complete races, stunts and takedowns. In between it allows for collecting items around the city including jumps, sign destruction and shortcuts. The only reason this didn't get five stars was the lack of crash mode. Criterion have substitued this with a 'Showdown' mode. You drive fast, hit two buttons and try and crash into anything that moves for points. I would have prefered the old style levels where you knew what you had to try and hit to complete the level. It would of also looked awesome with the graphics this title possesses. Online mode for me is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes too many things to aim for can make the gameplay a bit messy. If you're a fan, buy it. If you like GT, then this isn't for you.

Bang! and the map is gone!, 14 Aug 2008
Battlefield: Bad company is a first person shooter (ofcourse) with a sense of humour, the one-liners are certainly alot better than that of "Horatio Kane" of CSI:Miami fame.
The game is based around 4 soldiers in the B(ad) Compay, sent out into modern combat...
The single player is mediocre, my favourite line must be "I swear I saw a guy with an eye patch in that barrel/box" it made me laugh. You basically complete objectives over pretty huge maps, allowing you to go anywhere, it is reminiscent of Mercenaries on PS2, but better.
The guns certainly do feel powerful even with the lack of rumble, and the characters are also rather loveable, even is they are US Soldiers.
The main selling point of this game HAS to be the "90%" destructable environments, I remember first playing and spraying a round of fire at a group of trees, they splintered abit and then nothing, I looked again to see them all topple over into a woody heap.
The online mode of this game is both good and bad, ofcourse the destruction means you are NEVER safe, especially when you are camped up in a house, and hear a dreaded tank roll closer, and when that turret turns on you, your heart will skip a beat, thats for sure! The bad thing about Online, is that the game ships with ONE game mode. "Gold Rush", think Sabotage from CoD, but with Gold instead of Objectives, the objective is to find the enemies gold, and blow it up.
However a new update has seen a new mode released called Conquest, however I am yet to play this.
Please ignore people comparing this to CoD, okay, the online isn't as good, but this is in a different league, it runs paralell(can NEVER spell that) to call of duty, it does not compete against it. Simple as.
8/10
Older gamer review, 12 Aug 2008
OK, I am 34, so probably older than a lot of peeps playing this game, though surely not the oldest!
First off, I do not have time to sit down and play a game for hours on end. I have maybe a couple of hours during the week and maybe a few hours at the weekend if I'm lucky ;-)
On that basis, I have to say Bad company is an ideal game. It is great fun, the individual missions are nicely broken up with automatic saves at key points, fast load times, the humour actually works, the graphics are very good (although some screen tearing does spoil it) and the sound, the sound is amazing.
I have a surround sound hifi separates 5.1 system. Bad Company sounds AWESOME. When I let off a grenade inside a building, BOOM.
I don't think my neighbours like me anymore. They have not complained. It might be something to do with the extremely loud gunfire.
As I already mentioned the missions are nicely broken up with saves. I find this very important given my limited playtime available. More than that however I have never found it frustrating to die and then restart a particular bit. I actually look forward to going back in and blowing stuff up. This contrasts with GTA4 where I get really sick and tired of having to start a 40 minute mission all over again (and having to buy guns and flak jackets beforehand etc). Restarting a mission in GTA4 is a chore, restarting a mission in Bad Company is immediate and painless. Maybe not a fair comparison given the games are so different, but there it is.
I am very happy I made this impulse buy. Never thought I'd say that about an EA game.
Awesome fun! but Lag Ruins it..., 09 Aug 2008
What can i say?
I really enjoy this game, Multiplayer especially but (yes the bad word) Multiplayer has at times dreadful lag, on nearly all matches you will have lag and if your unlucky you will get it bad!
But (well now its the good word) Single Player is still great fun! Good Storyline, Awesome Gameplay, but (bad again) the missions can be a little repetitve but (reasurring) not all the times.
So lets talk about the game itself, Graphics are very good! i do think they are a little rubbish at times. Also the maps are very big! and are free to roam. The gameplay is amazing, Destructive Enviroments (also huge enviroments) Lots of weapons, and ranking on Multiplayer (when i say 'Multiplayer' im referring to Online, since there is no offline Multiplayer)
So what can i say about this game overall?
Its an amazing game but with Lag on Multiplayer which ruins the game (at times) immensely!
Lag Kills The Game, 09 Aug 2008
Having bought and paid for every Battlefield game in the series I had been looking forward to the release of this title. When the demo was released I was very pleased with the overall look and feel of the game and it left me wanting more.
On the day of release I was shocked to find that the online game was "unplayable". If you could handle the terrible lag then it was right up your street but I felt that it was unacceptable to the point of being pathetic. The days after it's release it seemed to improve a little and I quickly started to enjoy the game and everything it had to offer.
Now that we have seen a patch released with a new game mode the lag has returned with a vengeance and is now worse than ever. Battlefield on the PC was superb due to the fact that we as gamers could rent and run our own servers but on the PS3 and 360 it is EA's servers alone. If the lag improves then I would advise anyone who likes a good shoot 'em up with a difference to buy this game, if nothing is done soon then I would advise you to stay clear of the game.
Graphics not next gen but Game Play excellent, 08 Aug 2008
The graphic are definetly not next gen but the game play makes up for this. The envimrments are huge and it reminds me of the Tom Clancy Gost Recon games. It's fun driving vehicles. The tasks are a bit repeatative but over all the game is fun. If the graphics were next gen then this game would be excellent.

Product Description
If there really isn't any such thing as bad publicity then Mercenaries 2 is already doing superbly. It certainly already has its fair share of infamy, after being denounced by the Venezuelan government as propaganda for the U.S. Army and even dragging Bono (who part owns developer Pandemic) into a row over its probity. Mind you North Korea weren't too keen about the first game either and that turned out all right. The reason poor Bono's name has been dragged into the dirt is that the game's plot revolves around a U.S. led invasion of Venezuela after a dictator takes control in a coup. It's pretty hard to get offended about a game as gleefully silly as this though as its interests are clearly not politics but simply blowing things up as creatively as possible. As before you're dropped into the war zone and free to ply your mercenary trade with whomever you want. However, this time you're in charge of your own PMC (Private Military Company) and get to set up your own base and recruit your own soldiers. Owning your own PMC gives you a lot more control over how exactly you play the game in what is essentially Grand Theft Auto in a warzone. Everything you see can be completely destroyed from innocuous shrubbery to be the biggest buildings. You can now swim as well and there's lot more vehicles and gadgets, from helicopters to grappling hooks. With an online co-op mode as well even Hugo Chávez couldn't fail to be entertained (maybe).
See you online maybe?
madden 09, 14 Aug 2008
i can't wait! i read that you can have a 60 year long franchise, i can't wait for the user controlled celebrations. i have pre-ordered the game so i hope i will get it on the day of release
Madden 09, 13 Aug 2008
CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!!! gona be the best madden ever!! just hope they sort out the blocking, and defensive line, was awful in madden 08. Also hope theyve included mini camp in franchise mode!

To start of with the controls are brillant to start with something positive but thats it.

I am hooked on Need for Speed!, 23 Aug 2008
Hubby bought a PS3 a few weeks ago along with the usual warfare games which being female are not for me. Got the free trial download for Prostreet Need for Speed and I decided to have a go and enjoyed it so much we bought the game. Now I am completely hooked. I just love the challenges, trying to win the races, trying not to damage the car. I really feel my adrenalin going and my heart racing.
We also bough Gran Turismo but I cannot get into that yet and find it quite boring.
I need my life back though as I cannot tear myself away from the PS3 and Need for Speed.
Next thing is a wheel as the PS3 controls are quite difficult. Problem with a wheel though is you need a stand?

So, I was dubious about this game as I wasn't sure about the entire concept of the game, I really enjoyed the original need for speed games with the old style of gameplay. I think I was right to be dubious, the difference in style is amazing, its just not the same playing this game. What with it being legal racing and on track instead of street it doesn't seem the same. The whole style of the game has been lost.
The complicated upgrading of the cars is not something I look for in a racing game. I understand that this is probably interesting to the bigger car enthusiasts but this game really isn't about that and as I don't understand most of these concepts I don't like them in a game and I felt that I lost out by not knowing how to set the cars up.
The game does have good graphics which helps it along a bit and it does have reasonable gameplay overall but it doesn't feel like a need for speed game. If anything it just feels like a badly done version of Gran Turismo so to be honest I would probably just go and get that instead. It will have better gameplay and more realistic driving where Need For Speed feels like its lost in between arcade and simulation.
I think EA need to work out where their going with this game before they bring out another one. If they did this they might be on to a winner again but for the time being they don't seem to know where their going which is a shame because this game could have been great where I believe for now it is just average.
Not The Same, 08 Jul 2008
Firstly the title, Pro Street. Well it isn't based on streets, it's completely circuits. Everyone enjoyed Need for Speed for high speed street racing not serious track racing. Need for Speed have tried to turn their game into Gran Turismo whixh has disappointed many, including me. Although it is only £15 you just can't get into the game, especially becuase of the time it takes to set u a race. Overall i wouldn't recommend this game, maybe try Race Driver Grid.

Quite a good game, 28 Mar 2008
Despite the bad reviews i took a punt and bought this game. Not bad. Quite fun, fast and action packed. I've not really played previous nfs titles so didn't care too much about no free roam or no police chases etc. Very similar to forza on xbox, paint jobs etc. Online seems a bit rubbish but single player is fun, drag and drift modes are great fun!

Product Description
While Electronic Arts' other sports games may be locked in a deadly rivalry with their competitors there really hasn't been a golf sim to go head-to-head with Tiger Woods for years. There doesn't seem to be too much laurel sitting going on though, especially since this is, like many Electronic Arts games this year, the first time the game has been designed specifically with the next generation of consoles in mind. Naturally that means the most realistic graphics yet, not only for the course itself but also for Tiger and the other real-world golfers. Their faces and expressions look totally life-like and on the PS3 and 360 you can use a webcam or digital camera to import your own face and graft it to your own in-game custom golfer. In terms of gameplay the major new feature is the concept of "shot confidence" which monitors your performance through your whole career, adding an extra degree of tension to difficult shots but also allowing you to examine your game in detail to find out where you're going right and wrong. After criticisms that last year's game was a bit thin on options this new game has the greatest number of courses ever including Westchester Country Club, TPC Boston, Cog Hill and East Lake. There's also the expanded GamerNet mode which acts like a sort of YouTube just for the game, allowing you post in-game videos and challenge other people to a game in an online world dedicated to nothing but golf.
See you online maybe?
madden 09, 14 Aug 2008
i can't wait! i read that you can have a 60 year long franchise, i can't wait for the user controlled celebrations. i have pre-ordered the game so i hope i will get it on the day of release
Madden 09, 13 Aug 2008
CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!!! gona be the best madden ever!! just hope they sort out the blocking, and defensive line, was awful in madden 08. Also hope theyve included mini camp in franchise mode!
Bang! and the map is gone!, 14 Aug 2008

Fun challenge but not all that it could be!, 23 Feb 2008
My title sums this up mostly. The game itself, which is the main thing to go on, is very good indeed. Some people have complained it is too difficult or that some swing mechanics are not quite right, but this is a simple practice issue and after you sit down for a few rounds and work out what not to do and what you need to change to get differing effects then you should be better equipped for the challenge. This is a good thing, too many people want to pick this up with a one button swing to be able to hit 350yd drives straight down the middle of the fairway, but I prefer the fact that at first you suck (oh and I did) but with practice you get better and this is itself is a nice feature, that all your hard work pays off and you find yourself actually getting immense satisfaction when you birdie that hole to get a share of the lead.
Now on to my gripes....and there are only a few but they are quite major flaws in an otherwise great game. The graphics are very sloppy and just stink of a rushed through job to get yet another yearly output of an EA game with very little imp | | |
