WOW! A must buy PC game!, 07 Jul 2008
WOW! Being new to CIV, i didn't know what to expect. I had been pondering over whether or not to buy this game since September. And buying this was a great choice and idea for mny reasons.
Here's why;
Graphics: 9.0 - Amazing until you really zoom in. But this game is meant for keeping quite zoomed out until you enter a battle or fight at whic point the camera automatically zooms in. This is not a hinderance though, i find the graphics very detailed. The leaders and videos are very well animated and are very detailed aswell.
Sound: 8.5 - Sometimes the sound can be slightly distorted but most and literally all the time the game has great sound. I love the way that the Civilisaion that you have chosen for your campaign has it's music evolve over the game, so it reacts to the time period you are in.
Gameplay: 9.5 - They have literaly thought of everything and more in this game. The two expansion packs have definately improved the game. It lasts for ages (i played the short game and it took me over 7 hours to complete). And the technologies in the game that all link to each othe in someway or another. religion is agreat aspect that i like. i felt privilaged to be the founde of religions such as Buddism, Christianity and Islam, amoungst others. The worlds and leaders are amzing. And the traits of eachleader really shows when you don't or do agree with them or give them tributes etc. Such as Ghandi, he has a huge toleration and a good cultre levl (which helps in te upkeep of your happy citezens), compared to Julius Ceaser, Roosevelt or Mansa Musa who have amow tolerance level and high technology (which helps in military matters). S it is good to keep on the good side of leaders, which i shard because they all have enemies too. So when they ask you to stop trade with a certain civilisation and yo either aree or disagree it will upset certain leaders, not just the two in qustion. Justlike if you were to declare war on one civislisation it will upset or even make other leaders happy.
Overall: 9.0 - Take 2 have realy put alot into his game and have made a truly outstanding game that will (as you are required to in the game), "stand the test of time".
Awesome game shame about the price, 12 May 2008

20 yrs on and still the best role play strategy game!, 21 Mar 2008
I bought this game based on what I remembered of the original version I used to play on a friends old 286 machine back in the late 1980s, and the very favorable reviews on this site. After much deliberation & head scratching I finally took the plunge and bought the game. After 20+ years of hardware and software improvements since I played the original I expected a major leap forward in playability and game fluidity and buoy what a pleasant surprise, I only wish I'd switched from my PS2 sooner. All aspects of game play have been much improved, sorry to state the obvious, without loosing any of the appeal of the ancient original version (sorry I couldn't resist the attempt at a gag) I became so fond of. The complete pack with the two expansion pack is a must as you effectively get three 5* games for the price of one.
Only three very small niggles
1. There is no real paper manual to speak of, its all on the one dvd disk, which makes accessing it a bit aquard mid game.
2. It's a lot more difficult than a remember the original, this is probably partly due to the increased pace of the game in each turn because of the giant leap in processor power over the aforementioned 20 yrs, and I have to play on the easiest setting.
3. Its too darn addictive. Due to the great game play, fluidity and the 'I just want to get to the next level/conquer one more tribe' mentality that gets under your skin, you can loose all track of time. Just last night I got so immersed in the game I almost fell asleep at my pc, at 2AM, trying to finish off destroying the nearest tribe.
All in all though it's a must for any role-play and/or strategy game fan. So I have no hesitation in giving it the full 5*s.
Not a long wait, 21 Dec 2007
Ive just ordered this game and even though it says its out of stock it wont be a long wait, so if you havent got the gameyet then get this. Its the best value pack there is. Football Manager 2008 pc, 27 Aug 2008
Those who wait awhile can now pick up the latest offering of football manager for under a tenner -although very little has changed the few tweaks that have been made add little to the overall enjoyment of the game. The last game I bought was 2006 there is now a nice touch with negotiation in transfers but it has always been a great game and has refined itself over the years. All the latest players and stats updated- while away the hours with this addictive game.
good game, 24 Aug 2008
hi this is the accounts owners 11 year old son writing this review. :P ;)
this is a good game with a few small match bugs and glitches. For example, usuallly when your three up with 10 minutes to go and the 3 points look secured, the other team usually scores four or five, and on the rare occasions six, leaving you wondering " why did i buy this piece of C*A* ?" this does not deter from the fun however, and apart from that, its a really realistic game. the 1 excuse for for that though, is the transfer budgets. Remember last season or this season in this game? man utd spent 50 million pounds on players. In this game however you have a 10 .25 million pound budget. that season rangers spent 19 mil on players. in this game they have a pathetic 1.5 mil. c*a* if yuh ask me. :/
All in all this is a good game and at the time of writting with it being at a tenner, its good value for money. Bye now.
Short and simple, 16 Aug 2008
To be honust i can be botherd writing a masive review on every detail of the game.
The first thing i'd say is it is really hard! it takes a long time to get used to most stuff, and i feel if you haven't played a Football manager game before you'd be best just sticking to the basics.
I feel the hardest bit about the game is transfers, it is so hard to sign people!!! and if your a lower league club you've simpley got no chance.
Overall it is a great manager game, better the Fifa manager? not sure.
It's extreamley realistic, i'd say the only thing missing is real club badges and player pictures for higher clubs etc.
I'd say a 4 star, not 5 star just yet.
Brilliant game - but no patches from the site, 09 Aug 2008
I ordered this product on the evening on the 7th of August. Although the product qualified for Super Saver Delivery, I only wanted to purchase this item, so delivery was free. For just £1.69 I could have First Class Delivery. Today, on the 9th of August, I received the game, and so was very happy at this.
I had seen other reviews from people on here who complained about bugs. I played the game (Version 8.0.0 from the disk) for about 30 minutes and did not come across any bugs what so ever.
I know that there is a more recent version available. Two in fact; 8.0.1 and 8.0.2. I have to say I was annoyed, as other users would be, when I found out that on the official Sega website they didn't "have the patches in their database".
So I had to search on an unofficial fan site for the patches, which were the official patches re-uploaded. I was not very happy with this, although they worked perfectly.
I have currently completed a third of a season and love the variety of controls available in the game. Great game, and I have not yet come across any bugs, although I have to say that red cards do appear to often for the opposition.
Overall, a great, innovative game, unfortunately ruined by Sega's lack of interest in providing patches and support.
Major Disappointment, 02 Aug 2008
I think it depends how serious you are. If you are a serious gamer and are prepared to watch and tweak throughout the game then you'll find a good challenge. If your a casual gamer who sets up his tactics and then makes his team selections then you'll not get far!
Sad to say now for serious gamers only.

IKEA STUFF!, 10 Aug 2008
Let me guess...when you open the box half the bits are missing and you cannot understand the instructions!
Great "stuff" pack for The Sims2, 02 Aug 2008
If you researched on the Sims2 website before hand it shows you a list of most of the items in the add-on. The game has great items for around any Sims home, and are likely to nicely fill empty gaps.
-The pack also has the wardrobe I bought from Ikea in!
Product Placement, Much?, 19 Jul 2008
EA are certainly running out of ideas. First H&M got a sponsorship deal, now Ikea are in on the act. I wouldn't be surprised if we got "The Sims 2: Barbie(TM) and Friends Stuff" next.
This "Stuff Pack" contains some furniture and various items to add to your Sims' homes. However, you can download just as good, for free, from Sims 2 fansites (and get nearly infinite variety there as well - there are literally hundreds of thousands of downloads available for the Sims 2). Not sure if I'm allowed to recommend in a review, but if I am, modthesims2.com is a good place to start.
I'm a Sims 2 fan myself, but even I would say: Don't bother with the Stuff Packs at all, unless you can't (or won't) download better content for free online.
Seriously., 14 Jul 2008
seriously, they MUST have ran out of ideas.. i mean whod have given it an IKEA pack?!
get some new ideas.. your running out fast, EA.
Not much stuff really, 03 Jul 2008
I dont think much of this sims 2 add on. I own every single sims 2 expansion pack and stuff packs. There does not seem to be that much more fun to the game with this pack. My daughter is a sims 2 addict she lasted one evening with this pack. When i added the sims 2 freetime for example she was glued for weeks the same with the sims 2 teen style stuff. I guess it may be down to taste for some people. I must add the word dissapointing but not a one star score.

STUNNING!!!, 08 Jul 2008
if you were not already blown away be medievel 2 total war you will have to check out the expansion pack KINGDOM
it is so good that each campaign feels like a whole different game... it is worthy to be total war material.
JUST WOW
it also has famous characters in the campaign like scotland had William Wallace ( braveheart-1995 )
and the kingdom of jeruselem has richard the lion heart
Simply great.
i highly think that people should get this.....NOW!!
Not what i Expected, 27 Dec 2007
I was a bit suprised when i got this game as i thought it was going to follow on from where Medieval II Total War Left off. Mostly I was looking forward to being the aztecs and defending against the spanish and then maybe being able to go to europe and conquer the rest of the world. But even though you can't do the things i wanted to it is still a great game, but i wouldent say it was as good as the original but if you have the original it is a must have.
Spoiled by bugs, but a patch is promised, 15 Dec 2007
This expansion to M2:TW, a game that I couldn't enjoy playing until two major patches had been released, is perhaps unsurprisingly spoiled by bugs of its own. Some of the campaigns are less affected than others but all have at least one advertised feature that doesn't work properly.
The bad news was that the developers and publishers had stated that there would be no further patches for M2:TW or Kingdoms. The good news is that they seem to have changed their minds, and a patch is expected some time in 2008. How many problems this will solve remains to be seen.
One final fly in the ointment: the game installs SecureROM copy protection on your machine. Some PC owners dislike having difficult-to-remove software installed on their machines.
The Expansion is better than the original, 30 Nov 2007
After my great disappointment with Medieval II: Total War I thought I'd give this one a miss but good reviews here changed my mind and I bought it and it was well worth it. It is really 4 games/expansions in one and this is very good value and each expansion is very different from the next and each has a rich historical flavor. The best part is that the game is challenging, something I didn't think Medieval II was and and some flaws have been adressed although the game can still be heavy to run, graphics are best set to minimum and if you end up in a huge battle things can go bad and the game will crash especially if a general is killed by artillery. But the expansion brings a lot to the game and with 4 different campaign settings, this really is 4 games in one, so thank you for that SEGA. Others might have tried to market them as 4 seperate games.
great game but it is an expansion pack., 28 Oct 2007
This is possibly one the best total war expansion packs so far as i got bored very quickly with alexander and the barbarian. this offers for whole new entirley different campaigns where you can play as william wallace fighting english tyrrany or as cortez ravaging south america as the teutonic order fighting the pagans or as a crusader knight in jerusalem. now those are only one of the forces from each campaign there are others those are just the ones i prefer but unlike in preivous games each campaign is like a expansion pack in its self as there is no cross over like in barbarian so you wont be having the irish celts fighting against the aztecs which may dissapoint some people but personally i like. the only thing i would complain about is the online mode it seems to have been taken over by more hardcore gamers as most of the maps are mods that need to be downloaded and thus maybe arent for those people who dont know much about there computer or like me are just to lazy to go and download them. so to summarize great game set in historically important times with great attention payed to accuracy with great game play perfect for civilization builders but patching is a nightmare as the patches for the original arent there and if youre lazy and havent installed them (like me) then this takes awhile and the online play one of my most anticipated parts of this game has been a let down.

Best PC game ive bought in a while!, 15 Jul 2008
This game is fantastic the gameplay is great!!
Graphics 9/10
Sound 8/10
Gameplay 9/10

WOW! A must buy PC game!, 07 Jul 2008
WOW! Being new to CIV, i didn't know what to expect. I had been pondering over whether or not to buy this game since September. And buying this was a great choice and idea for mny reasons.
Here's why;
Awesome game shame about the price, 12 May 2008
This is available much cheaper at play.com and other locations. Come on amazon, lets get competitive in this market!
My game will arive on jan 1st so its not a long wait, if you get chronicles you wont get the expansion packs but you the the old games which you wont play, so get this one.

Basicly this is free software, 12 Aug 2008
I suggest everyone who thinks that if they buy this they are buying a demo I urge you all to read the product information for the full spore game preorder with amazon.
heres the bit thats interesting:
"Buy Spore Creature Creator with us at Amazon.co.uk and get £5 off Spore."
Now notice that creature creator costs £4.99 Yep thats right, if you decide to buy the full game your amazon will basicly pay you a penny and give you a free disk.
Best deal this year.
I got a blank disc?, 11 Aug 2008
Ok I jsut got this, put the CD in the drive, waited for somethign to happen and...nothing. My processor whirred a bit but nothing, and my PC is fine ( Running vista and can play any game top graphics so stats are no issue), this CD just doesn't show up in the drive or when it does it's apparantly just a blank disc. Now i've looked around on forums etc. but can't find a fix for this. Waste of money.
Installing (cant play it!), 26 Jul 2008
I was really pleased when this game arived 2days later on my door. I rushed to install it but i needed more graphics. This means i have to spend a further £30 buying a graphics card. Yes this will make other games better but i think that the graphics on my computer are already fine and shouldn't need updating as my computer is quite new still.
As i cant play it please ignore my rating. I have watchied videos about it so i will give it a to see score.
Sell A DEMO?, 21 Jul 2008
This is terrible, its just a demo of part of the game coming out in september. This is a rip off just like the expansion packs for the sims. Not to mention the draconian DRM. I for one will no longer be buy ANY EA games. I am sick of the DRM Securom Issue, I had enough of that with the sims 2. There is a lack of support and care from EA when things go wrong with your computer/game and you can't play a game you paid for with your hard earned money. I will not be buying Spore now and nor will I be buying Sims 3 - I am seriously disappointed.
In reply to NeuroSplicer, 28 Jun 2008
I think to a certain extent it is right for EA to protect themselves now beings as so many games are copied and sold on, so the DRM scheme makes sense, although quite annoying admitedly!
Also people who buy from amazon are willing to pay the £5 for the game, if your not then dont moan about it, and if you were really concerned ud have realised that EA refund that £5 when you buy the full game later this year from them, yet its just as cheap to buy creature creator and preorder the full game from Amazon neway.
Newho love the game, its nice to have a small taste of whats to come, well excited!

My game will arive on jan 1st so its not a long wait, if you get chronicles you wont get the expansion packs but you the the old games which you wont play, so get this one.

Kitchens and lack of bathrooms, 22 Jun 2008
I love the Sims and play the game a lot. I was really looking forward to sprucing up my kitchens and baths with a makeover, sadly this is not what I got.
Very unimganative designs and boring sets, I was surprised it felt a lot less stuff than say the H&M fashion pack.
I wouldn't unload it from my game but I don't think I'll be so excited next time
Great stuff but, not good value., 06 Jun 2008
I have been a big fan of the Sims for a very long time and I brought all of the expansion packs for Sims 1 and I now own all of the expansion packs for Sims 2.
The items on this expansion pack are very nice and stylish, especially the hairstyles and clothing. However I was a bit disappointed by the amount of Kitchen and bathroom items I got. I feel that the average asking price for this game, between 7.50 and 9.00, is too high for the content, particuarly when you consider than EA are about to release another pack, 'Ikea Stuff. I have to question whether or not they could have delayed this item and combined the two to make it better value for money. Then again if people will buy it at this price then their current marketing stratergy obviously works.
I was lucky enough to buy my copy second hand for cheap. I would recommend any of the expansion packs to people, however my advice would be that unless it is a full expansion pack like Seasons or Freetime, hunt around and buy it for a cheap as possible.
Hope this helps.
Quality but not Quantity, 26 May 2008
I'm an ardant Sims fan and have ALL the expansion and stuff packs and download from the Internet too. These objects are all good quality (maybe alittle dull though), but there just simply wasn't enough of them to warrant the price tag. I agree with other reviews, you could download these things from various free sites.
Sims 2 kitchen and bathroom, 26 Apr 2008
The items on this stuff pack are brilliant, especially if you're the type of player that loves the building and furnishing side of the sims2. But i have to agree with the previous comments about how there's just not enough stuff for the amount you pay. The items are gorgous, and really the kinda ideal things you would put in your dream house. But for £8 - half the price of an expansion pack - i don't thing it's really worth it. Free custom objects, clothes & hair styles, houses, and sims are available off the internet - but in my opinion they sometimes mess up your computer & sims2.
Hope this helped.
Nice items - but terrible value for money, 23 Apr 2008
The stuff packs retail for half the price of a Sims 2 expansion pack - for what you get (in partcular the quantity), this is way to expensive!
Yes, the items are nice, but there are not that many of them and you will be able to get similar items from the various Sims 2 Fan Sites which offer free object downloads.
A £5 price tag would have been more appropriate, but then again, if people are willing pay ...
My tip: Don't buy - if you want swish kitchens or bathrooms go hunting on the Internet and download the free stuff!

Product Description
In a nutshell: The PC and console worlds combine thanks to man's best friend and a mouse's greatest enemy. Create, pamper and train your favoured furry companions in the latest The Sims 2 expansion. The lowdown: After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it's really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that's just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work! Most exciting moment: On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times. Since you ask: The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it'll focus on exterior objects and locations. It's not yet clear whether there'll be a console version. The bottom line: Finally, The Sims is made to work on consoles!-HARRISON DENT

Best PC game ive bought in a while!, 15 Jul 2008
This game is fantastic the gameplay is great!!
Graphics 9/10
Sound 8/10
Gameplay 9/10
Also i recived this version completely upto date therefore i just installed it and started playing withing a few mins.
this game runs smoothly at max settings for everything on my PC [Q6600 intel core2 quad - 4gb ddr2 800mhz - 8500gt 512mb]
I highly recommend this game it is a MUST buy in my opinion...
Anyway G2G need to carry on playing Civ 4 XD
WOW! A must buy PC game!, 07 Jul 2008
WOW! Being new to CIV, i didn't know what to expect. I had been pondering over whether or not to buy this game since September. And buying this was a great choice and idea for mny reasons.
Here's why;
Awesome game shame about the price, 12 May 2008
This is available much cheaper at play.com and other locations. Come on amazon, lets get competitive in this market!

2. It's a lot more difficult than a remember the original, this is probably partly due to the increased pace of the game in each turn because of the giant leap in processor power over the aforementioned 20 yrs, and I have to play on the easiest setting.
