Product Description
Nintendo's Wii video game system (pronounced "we") is designed to attract people, regardless of their age or video game experience, to sit down and play together--whether they're in the same room or on different sides of the globe. The system's name reflects this simple idea. It's easily pronounced in a variety of languages, and the distinctive spelling suggests two players side by side. The two Wii features Nintendo thinks will create new levels of gaming community are built-in Wi-Fi access, supported by a new online gaming service, and Wii's intuitive, wireless, motion-sensitive game controller.
As with every new console release, much of the buzz surrounds the specs. The system boasts 512 MB of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. Wii's technological heart -- a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named "Hollywood" -- are said to deliver stunning performance. Instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs.
The real revolution in this system, though, is its controller, called the Wii Remote. Shaped like a TV remote, it's been designed to be easily used by beginners and pros alike. Sensors determine the Wii Remote's position is in 3-D space, which means that racing-game steering and a tennis swing, for example, are done through movements of your hand rather than by just your thumbs. What's more, a tiny speaker built into the Wii Remote promises some interactive surround sound experiences. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analog thumbstick and trigger buttons. An adapter that fits over the Wii's wee remote will be available for those who prefer the feel of a traditional controller. In a nutshell:As if the idea of five games in one package didn't sound a good enough deal on its own the Wii's best multiplayer compendium comes free with the console. The lowdown: Clearly realising that they need to provide some quick and obvious reasons why the Wii Remote is such a good idea Nintendo have packed in this compilation with the console, which includes simple versions of tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing. The four player tennis game is the obvious stand out as you swing the Remote exactly as you would a real tennis racket, with the game seeming to almost magically interpret your movements into the game. All the other games work in a similar way, as you hold the Remote like a golf club or ready it like a baseball bat - you can even use it to gently roll bowling bowls and add some subtle aftertouch. The graphics make be purposefully basic but these are the games to instantly prove why the Wii is going to be such a revolution. Most exciting moment: While even Wii Tennis can be played with very minor movements of the Wii Remote the boxing game actively encourages you to act things out properly. You hold up both the Remote and the nunchuck to simulate your two hands and then duck and weave as you switch between trying to pummel your opponent and dodging or blocking their own attacks. Since you ask: You can use your own customised Mii Channel character in any of the games for that personal touch. The idea was originally just a joke featuring caricatures of Nintendo's top brass for a press conference, but it proved so popular that Nintendo ensured anyone could make their own character to play with. The bottom line: Five of the best games on the Wii and they all come free with the console!-HARRISON DENT

GREAT FOR THE CASUAL GAMER, 18 Nov 2008
I absolutley love The Wii, for a casual gamer like myself, the Wii is perfect. I won't bother typing a long review as there are some on here which explain the console's details better, what I will say is that there is a growing catalogue of great games, plus you can play most Gamecube games on here as well.
All in all, a fantastic console :)
Baaaaaad, 13 Nov 2008
I have owned a 360 for about a year and after getting this console free from a raffle i can saw one thing:
This is bad.
Had fun on the first night i had it. The day after i turned it on for 15 minutes... but after realising all i could do was hit a slow moving tennis ball against an AI opponent, i soon turned it off and went for COD4 on the xbox 360.
Decided to go for "Wii Play" mainly to get the extra controller. Fun to start with, thought things weren't so bad for the Wii. Played each mini-game twice or so ...... back to COD4.....
Truly the most boring console for me.
ON THE OTHER HAND my cousin who's 11 years old came to visit us for the weekend. She absolutely LOVED it.
Overall:
Only ever use on occasions with more than 4 people- it's quite amusing with 4 people playing tennis. If you own one of those 11 year old girls who loves TV then this is a good console.
Otherwise BAD! severely...
NOTE: Havn't bought any "proper" games but frankly i didnt want to waste the money.
Grest fun with friends. Not so good for a solo gamer., 12 Nov 2008
The Wii is a fantastic system and is great fun.........with a group of people.
When family and friends come round it comes into it's own and we spend most of the night playing tennis, bowling and Golf etc.
So on this basis it gets 5 stars as it is so much fun.
From a console point of view it is not the best system for a gamer. The types of games released on PS3 and XBOX 360 are far greater in choice and in graphics.
The Wii is 5 stars for a group/party system and from that approach is worth every penny.
As a gaming system alone it would be around 3 maybe 4 stars.
Hope that helps people make their minds up.
The Wii - Great For a while, then what? ..., 12 Nov 2008
I was a proud owner of a Nintendo Wii for about 4 or 5 months. In the early portion of that period I found the console to deliver an exciting unique approach to gaming that I'd never experienced before. Games such as the free Wii Sports were (although I thought quite basic to begin with) extremely rewarding to play. The premise of actually swinging a tennis racket or throwing a bowling ball was a lot of fun. Then came games like Mario Kart, an excellent classic game that now became as much fun as the arcade racer where you could turn a physical wheel. Add onto that the more conventional games like Resident Evil that offered a FPS style game with the Wii-mote as your gun.
It all sounds so exciting. Sadly as time passed the initial excitement of these few games began to wear off. Browsing new games became dull as there only ever appeared to be a few I thought were worth buying. A few then turned to 1 or two, then to 1, then sadly to, "not this year, maybe next". I still can't find many games for the Wii that make me think "this console was definitely worth the money".
I'm old school when it comes to consoles (Spectrum ZX, Sega Master System, Megadrive, Playstation), so I'm used to top titles aimed at those who like long lasting quality games and plenty of them. What I found was the market I was entering was for people who really don't play games that often, or those that are content to wait on what Mario will do next (he does seem to hold a monopoly on the best games for the Wii). Games that I was excited about were stripped down with the words "Family Play" or similar plastered on the box. All the depth and excitement was gone from even the games I was after (I speak of Madden and Fifa). The promise of the Wii was started to annoy (along with it's many horrid celebrity endorsed adverts). Now it may be argued that I should have stayed away from the Wii, but with all the hype surrounding it I figured something great must emerge.
My Wii has now been sold.
To all those that are thinking about buying a Wii this review is a friendly word of warning. If your at all unsure that this console will satisfy your gaming needs take a browse through the game titles and make sure your happy with what Nintendo are offering. If like me you come from a more old school gaming background then you will quickly find (as I did) that the Wii was simply not built for you.
wii well why not, 07 Nov 2008
I have had the WII for a few month now and I can honestly say (although I only have 3 games includeing wii sports) Thos is the best console in the histroy of the worldnot only are the games gr8 but you can also download games from past consoles such as the megadrive, mastersystem, snes, n64 etc etc so if you are pineing for sonic 3 or Super Mario 64 you can get these for a nominal fee(you will need WII points for this £13.99for 2000)you can just download it and away you go if you have an old game cube controler you are all set(if not you will need to buy one but they are reletivly cheap) the best thing about the WII despite all this is these are the most fun games since the early to mid 90's and although being addictive you can easly just dip in and out mabye just playing an hour or half an hour and then just dip back in the next day or week or so i have been a fan of the nintendo systems since age 5 downloading emulators for the systems up to the n64 then i got this and it dosen't even come close if you want a nintendo system get this (or the ds if you want a portable) nintendo the great grandad of home consoles is back on top in conclusion buy this you will not find a better deal than amazons get a wii and choose a selected game for £10 (I recomend mario kart WII)you wo'nt regret it

Amazing!, 16 Nov 2008
This game is really awesome, first played it on the N64 then the gamecube but the Wii version is the best by far especially when playing it with the wheel, only downside with the wheel is its more difficult to make sharp turns but apart from that its absolutly brilliant. Best game i've played in a long time and i could play it for hours! Excellent
WORST IN SERISE, 05 Nov 2008
This game is terrible
If you enjoyed Mario Kart on any other format DS/GC/GB/N64 etc then you will NOT repeat NOT enjoy this.
The stupid wheel is rubbish for controling the Kart, the stats are badly chosen so all the karts handle poorly and the addition of motor bikes makes no sense.
The online is the only redeeming quality but even that is poor. the lobbying feels like it was done in MS excel and there is hardly any interaction with the opponants like in Live.
AT a best this game is a rent only title.
AND I A NINTENDO FAN BOY BTW AND I HATED THIS GAME WHICH SHOWS HOW BAD IT IS
good and not so good, 27 Oct 2008
It is a really good game and i would highly reccomend it .
The only problem is is that unlocking the secret characters, corses, carts and bikes is a bit of a pain. I couldnt unlock any for ages so i ended up buying a cheats book !

Product Description
The Wii Nunchuk controller is a secondary controller that adds even more innovation to the next generation of gaming, and does it all with less physical movement. Used in conjunction with the standard Wii remote, certain games need the Nunchuk controller for additional control options. Contoured perfectly to fit a player's hand,
The Wii Nunchuk (left) connects directly to the Wii remote. View larger. | the Nunchuk controller builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote controller. The Nunchuk contains the same three-axis motion sensor found in the Wii Remote, but also includes an analog stick, and two buttons to help assist in character movement. Many games will allow you to control your character's movement with the Nunchuk in your left hand, while your right hand is free to execute the action movements with the Wii Remote. For example, the Nunchuk is particularly useful for games like Wii Boxing. You can use the Nunchuk to punch with your weaker hand, while you use the Wii remote to punch and jab with your predominant hand.
Take the fun to the next level with two-handed control of your games. View larger. | In first-person shooters, the Nunchuk controller carries the burden of movement, freeing you to aim and fire using a more natural motion with the Wii Remote. In a football game, you can make your quarterback elusive with the Nunchuk controller while you search for an open receiver to throw to using the Wii Remote. Serious gamers may even want to use two Nunchuk controllers to gain a fierce competitive edge. Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. Perfectly suitable for either right or left-hand use, the Wii Nunchuk controller grants accessibility not often seen in previous game controllers. Also, the Nunchuk controller doesn't need its own power--it plugs into the Wii Remote controller when it's in use. So there's no need to worry about charging or replacing expensive batteries. Adding a Nunchuk to your Wii system will definitely help you open the doors to the next level of gaming, and seriously step up performance. Just be careful not to knock out your significant other, or bruise the dog, severely, while using one, or two Nunchuk controllers.

Although there are games where you don't require the Nunchuck it is always handy to have one or your gameplay will be limited. Easy to add on to your controller and allows you to play a whole range of games.
needed for some games. Some notes about nunchuks, 25 Oct 2007
A nunckuk is a simple atachment to the Wii remote that gives you extra control over a game.So far 4 out of 6 of my games need it.If it has a nunchuk icon in the top-right corner of the box it needs it for all or part of the game. You get one free with the console, but you can get another for multiplayer. Here are some notes:
1.The control stick has a special feature:you can move it a little bit and it does the action a little bit, like a steering wheel!
2.The upper button is called "c" and the lower button is called "z" so if you see c and z mentioned in reviews you`ll know what they`re talking about. Don`t get them the wrong way round!
3.It fits in your hand perfectly-no need to worry about it being uncomfortable.
4.Don`t put the control stick in your mouth (if you do it goes all yellow).
5.The cord length is fine(almost the armspan of a quite tall 9-year-old).
So overall the nunchuk wins 5 stars for its special control stick feature; fitting into your hand nicely; and its cord length, and only has 1 bad point which is being just plain white and even this is hardly a "bad" point because you never look at the nunchuk when you`re playing and even this can be fixed by buying a skincase for it.
Over priced and under whelming - a missed opportunity, 09 Oct 2007
The nun-chuck does the job you want it for: controlling Wii games that need it like Wii Sports Boxing, FPS games like Metroid, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor etc, and a few others. You know this because you got one bundled with your Wii and you only want to buy another one so you can play these games against a friend. So go ahead and buy one.
But never being one to miss the opportunity to have a moan I thought I'd climb on my soap box and point out it's faults. Go on, read my rant before you click the `unhelpful button'.
The nun-chuck is over priced at £15. Infact Wii owners shouldn't have to pay for it at all. The Wii Remote is half a controller without this. It's a rip that you have to pay out £45 for 2 bits of kit just to get an extra player. This gives Wii the most expensive console controllers ever, which is just silly.
Price aside, the nun-chuck ain't that great. It feels to light for one thing, and what's with the wire and the lack of rumbles? A wireless rumbling Wii nun-chuck might be worth £15, but not this bland piece of plastic.
The nun-chuck is a reliable controller but it could be a lot better, and cheaper. Do buy one, but don't forget to do so begrudgingly ;-)
Oh and parents, make sure your kid actually wants to play games that require an extra nun-chuck before you buy. If all they want is multi player Tennis this won't be necessary.
A Must have, 16 Sep 2007
This is a brilliant assesory/add on, and it is a must have to play most games.

Nintendo fused the global familiarity of a remote control with the sophistication of motion-sensing technology to come up with an input device that differentiates the Wii from any other console that has come before it. Revolutionary control Sporting the dimensions of a small traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote is a multifunctional device that is limited only by the game designer's imagination. The magic of the Wii Remote's design lies within; accelerometers inside the controller body measure movement in all directions and at all speeds. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket as you swing your arm for a long forehand or a quick and hard backhand. In a 4x4 driving game it serves as a steering wheel, allowing you to swerve to avoid obstacles or pickup power-ups. In first-person shooters, the Wii Remote acts as a firearm that you can point directly at an on-screen enemy. The list of potential uses is enormous, and the light weight of the Wii Remote allows gamers to play for hours without feeling fatigued.
The Wii Remote boasts impressive technology for such a compact package. | All Wii Remote buttons are accessible and responsive. View larger. | Control many games from up to 30 feet away. View larger. | The motion sensing technology is neatly tucked away within the Wii Remote body.View larger. | The remote feels comfortable in both right and left hands. View larger. | As comfortable as it is functional The Wii Remote is equally comfortable in right and left hands and houses just the right number of buttons for gaming- not so many that new players will get confused, but enough so that Wii games don't feel constrained. On the face of the remote are the D (or "plus") pad, a large "A" button which is used for major on-screen actions, and two small options buttons. Between the game buttons are a plus and minus buttons (which often act as "forwards" and "back"), as well as a "Home" button to engage the Wii home screen to change settings or check remote battery levels. On the back side of the controller is a trigger-like "B" button, perfect for timing releases of a bowling roll in Wii Sports. Thankfully, battery life is excellent with the two included AA batteries, just as with the previous generation of Nintendo wireless controllers. Immersive intelligence Along the bottom of the Wii Remote, four blue LED lights indicate which player position the remote is currently set to. The controller automatically connects to the Wii console via Bluetooth wireless technology. Below the LEDs, an expansion port lets you connect a number of devices including the Nunchuk and Classic controllers for Virtual Console gaming (Virtual Console games and controller accessories sold separately). Other features of the Wii Remote include adjustable rumble force-feedback and a reinforced wrist strap to ensure safe use. A speaker inside the remote gives the player feedback about the strength of swings or the accuracy of their moves- such as realistic tennis noises as the "racket" connects with the ball in Wii Sports. Overall, the physical design of the remote is extremely sturdy and of very high quality, ensuring countless hours of Wii gaming fun!

Best wii driving game, 21 Oct 2008
I bought this game over a month ago and am still playing it! The more you play it the more you unlock. Its amusing to see your mii in the game with mario and otheres. It is easyer than most driving games as you acctully stear yourself!
mario kart, 17 Oct 2008
Mario kart is a great game for family and friends to play on. You can unlock new characters, bikes and karts and also new courses to play on.

Essential to get the most out of your wii but far too expensive, 30 Apr 2008
You only get one wiimote in the standard kit wii console and while this is a fantastic controller hence why I have given it 5 stars for fun I think it is over priced as unlike other consoles there is no 'after market' 3rd part alternatives that are cheaper.
I would welcome a reduction in the price by nintendo to make the additional wiimotes more accessible for more people. Your looking at the best part of £150 to get 3 more wiimotes and nunchucks required for 4 player mode. I have got 4 and it really does make play more fun and allow more people to join in.
Love this controller!, 13 Feb 2008
I think this is a fantastic controller very easy to use and not to light but not to heavy either. The control is very fun to use, its not uncomfortable and it fits perfectly in your hand.
There is not much to say about a controller but this is fantasticly designed and great fun to use!
Wii remote, 21 Jan 2008
I purchased a wiimote last week, arrived next day and paid less than current shop prices. The wiimote is the Japanese version but as stated in the covering letter from seller it works in the same way as the UK version - you just need to check your original English instructions and press the red sync button on the back of the wiimote and the red sync button inside the front casing on the wii console at the same time and away you go. Don't be put off by some of the other reviews I was very pleased with my purchase.
It's a remote......., 04 Jan 2008
Everyone here is complaining! It's an immense remote!
You Point it at the screen and the cursor comes up, it has shake control, tilt control, it's got everything!
Why not buy it!

Product Description
For over a decade now fans have been wondering just what a team-up between Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog would be like. Everything from traditional platform games to complex role-playing titles have been suggested, but it's fair to say nobody imagined that it would finally happen in the form of an athletics simulator. It's officially licensed from the 2008 Beijing Olympics though (Sega already had the license for their own more traditional tie-in) and contains all the usual events you'd expect including the 100m sprint, swimming, judo, table tennis, hammer throwing and archery. Sega have even been talking about using the new Wii Zapper controller for a spot of clay pigeon shooting. More than twenty-five characters from both universes will be playable in the game, including not just Mario and Sonic but also Luigi, Tails, Yoshi, Knuckles, Bowser, Doctor Eggman, Princess Peach and Amy. Other characters will have cameos as judges such as Cream the Cat and Toad. You'd expect some characters to be naturally better at some sports than others but each has their own strengths and weakness, with even Sonic's incredible speed mitigated by his slow acceleration. The whole game is developed by Sega but overseen by legendary Nintendo creator Shigeru Miyamoto, with full tournament and missions modes as well as online leaderboards for all the different events. The name may sound like an April Fool's joke at first but this crossover could well be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Harrison Dent

WORST SONIC GAME EVERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!, 19 Nov 2008
Ok so I have been a fan of sonic the hedgehog since I was 5 years old and now I'm 15 but this game was the WORST I have ever played ... EVER!!! I Advise that you bie one of the other (much better) Sonic titles
unless you like Mario then bie another one of them XP
Bronze medal!, 28 Oct 2008
There's a lot about this game that's great - the number of characters, the coming together of Sonic and Mario, the range of events, the difficulty level, the number of unlockable areas - however, it takes so long going through all the menus and sub menus, intros and instructions, you get about 2mins gameplay for every 10mins spend with the Wiimote in your hand.
Some events are really hard to master - I still can't get the hang of the swimming - while others are too easy - 100m sprint is so simple it's boring.
The graphics and audio are all very good, and the interaction on most events is pretty good - but there's no instant gratification and no great fun. For pure gameplay, Wii Sports is better.
So should you buy it? well yeah - if you've the dedication of an Olympic athelete.
Good but let down......., 13 Sep 2008
When it got this game I thought it was brilliant after 2 months I still thought it was brilliant. BUT after 3 months this game was pretty average the reason being the lack of events, yea sure I got hundreds of world records but there is just NOT ENOUGH EVENTS!!!!!! The graphics are very good there are some good characters to choose from, there are some dream events which are quite fun that you can't have anywhere else. Another thing with the game is that if you get a world record on 2 player mode it doesn't count, for example I threw 113 meters on javelin in 2 p mode when the record is only 98 meters and it says 'new world record on the results table but when you start again next time you play it will be 98 meters!
Just take my advice GET SUMMER ATHLETICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantabulous multiplayer. V. Good single player, 19 Aug 2008
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is an amazing game. Multiplayer is by far the best part of it.
Theres also such a varied number of games. Usually there are 5 of us playing and we're all good at different things so no one feels left out. Single player is not quite as good but still very fun.
I don't understand how people find the controls difficult. Theyre really easy. And I love the way swimming strokes are different for each character. Me and my best friend love doing the swimming relay together, and it was fun trying out each character to put the fastest in our relay.
All in all I REALLY RECOMMEND this game
Fun in short bursts. Oh, and it makes your arms ache! , 17 Aug 2008
For a Mario & Sonic Olympics game, this is pretty good. The controls work well on almost all events (table tennis is my least favourite) and the Dream races are fun. Also, unlocking Olympics trivia and Mario and Sonic songs is cool!
I recommend this game to people who are interested in Mario, Sonic and the Olympics. However I do not recommend it to people who expect a brilliant Mario and Sonic crossover, which it actually isn't. Also, it's a shame there's no real wifi play instead of leaderboards.

Product Description
Wii play offers a compilation of 9 fun filled games for the Wii and is bundled with an additional Wii remote ensuring you can make the most of the 2 player mode. Wii play offers housr of fun playing classic games such as laser hockey and table tennis to name a few. Before you get stuck in be sure to request your Mii character, so they can represent you in the games. If you use your saved Mii character this will ensure you can save all your scores, against your character. Wii play consists of a wide variety of games, the most noticeable being shooting range, because of is reference to classic duck hunt, laser hockey which resembles classic pong or Air hockey. Others games will include Billiards, the well known pool table game and fishing. Also featured is charge, a unique racing game in which you steer a bull ridden by a Mii character. Tanks, battle it out with friends using tanks. Find Mii, follow a series of objectives to seek the Mii characters in the game. Pose Mii a fun filled game that involves moving your Mii character in a series of poses, to collect points. In a nutshell:If you want as gentle an introduction as possible to the world of Wii then this user-friendly compilation of mini-games is just the thing for you, with a collection of games that are as easy to play as they are fun. The lowdown: It might be easy to use but the Wii is still a pretty unusual beast and a bit of a culture shock from the overly complex controllers of other consoles. This compilation of mini-games aims to ease you in gently with simple to play games that only need the Wii Remote to enjoy. These include games of table tennis, air hockey (or Laser Hockey as the game would have it) and an updated of NES classic Duck Hunt. There's also Wii Billiards, a fishing sim and a number of games which use your customised Mii Channel character, including Wii Pose and the Where's Wally style Find Mii. Since many of these games have a multiplayer mode the game also comes bundled with an extra Remote (but not a nunchuck), which usually sells for £29.99 separately. Most exciting moment: Although all of the games are fun the best one is probably the Duck Hunt update (which also has you shooting UFOs and other non-avian enemies). Perhaps what's most exciting about it is that it proves how good other light gun franchises, such as Virtua Cop and Time Crisis would be on the Wii. Since you ask: Many of the mini-games included with Wii Play, such as Duck Hunt and Table Tennis, were first seen as technical demos at the E3 trade conference in May 2006, when the Wii was first revealed in playable form. The bottom line: The beginner's guide to Wii, with a handy extra controller. - HARRISON DENT

Not Game But Controller, 01 Nov 2008
did what it said on the box what else can you say it worked when i got it and its still working fast delivery on this item
A must have!, 06 Jul 2008

Wii Play is only worth getting if it's a cheap way of getting a controller. The game itself is rubbish - is only useful to learn how to use the Wii controller - which you can learn on any game anyway.
Wii Remote + Play , 05 Nov 2008
Once you have purchased a Wii, make sure this is your second purchase. You will certainly need a second remote(plus a 3rd & 4th maybe later on).
This is ideal with play included, the game is not mind blowing ... but its great and simple to play with a slection of games. Its well worth the purchase
