Very good, 26 Aug 2008
The 360 elite and the 360 arcade were made in 2007 whereas the premium console was made in 2005 the elite and the arcade have newer components and breakdown LESS than the premium so therefore the new 60gb premium will have up to date components making it less liable to breakdown. So now on the all 360's should be more robust with less over heating problems. Hurrah!!
Still Noisy, Still unreliable., 22 Aug 2008
I couldn't believe how loud these are. The fans are loud, the noise when a disc is in, is unbearable.
Given that we know these still don't have the RROD fix, I would steer well clear..
Nearly there!, 21 Aug 2008
is essentially a very good piece of machinery. The games are awesome with a huge selection (family, adult, party games etc). The graphics are superb for something that does not boast to be HD (unless you own the elite version). I was tempted with a PS3 but having played on a friends numerous times, I must say I prefer the xbox. The PS3 is expensive and does more or less what the xbox does.
The one thing that does it for me however is the online play. I had the 360 for a year before i went online. I didnt think I needed to go online as the games were awesome on single player. How wrong I was. Online multiplayer is amazing and offers hours of fun.......be prepared to lose your girlfriend.
New improved and cheaper, 19 Aug 2008
I own the 20Gb but for the same price a bigger hard drive, worth an investment if you don't own one already.
It's ashame though the xbox charges mega amounts for seperate hard drives though :(
I think Microsoft could have added in the wireless connection (£50 seprately)no?
this will probably be great, 18 Aug 2008
i own a ps3 and i've been considering buying an xbox 360 for a while, now that the xbox has addressed a few problems i am gonna buy one,so i can have great games on both systems.on another note a lot of guys including myself would love 2 things.1st-people stop reviewing products that aren't releasd yet 2nd-fanboys can you give it a rest.i love my ps3 it's got great features the xbox has got great features, they both share 90% of the same games so can fanboys get over it and just do what you bought your console(whatever it may be) for and play games

Product Description
Xbox Live is an online multiplayer gaming and content delivery system that allows registered users to create their own friends list of other users, and communicate with them via a mail-like system of either text or voice messages which can even be used to send a message to an offline user. With the new Xbox Live Vision camera, users can also send snapshot images to offline friends or video conference with them when they?re online.
With the launch of the Xbox 360, Xbox Live went through a major change. The most notable change is the establishment of two subscription types, called Silver and Gold. Xbox Live Silver is free to all Xbox 360 owners. While it does not allow access to online play, it still has access to other Xbox Live features such as the friends list, messages, and the Xbox Live Marketplace. Xbox Live Gold, which requires a monthly or yearly subscription fee, allows users to access all available features on Xbox Live. Although there are no parental controls available in Xbox Live, any reports of misuse of the service for criminal or sexual purposes results in a permanent ban of the account.
Key Features:
Xbox Live has a number of great community-focused features and benefits such as:
Gamertags - for user identification
Avatars - gamer pictures for association with gamer tags
Mottos - for display on gamer profiles
Gamer zones - which represents your gaming style and influences player matchmaking (Recreation, Pro, Family, Underground)
Game achievements - shows how well you and your friends are doing in a game
Reputation rating - voted on by other players who decide to either prefer or avoid another player
Gamerscores - a total of a player's achievement points
Friends list - a list of a player's chosen friends
Recent player list - lists the last 50 players one user has played with
Xbox Live Marketplace content - download demos, trailers, new and retro games
Multiplayer online gameplay - play against other gamers across the globe

The best service out there, 16 Aug 2008
Definitely worth the £35
Its the best online service of any of the current consoles by a country mile. If you have an xbox 360, this is a must buy.
Xbox Live- Essential, 28 May 2008
Personally i always thought why buy an expensive Xbox 360 console if you're not going to purchase Xbox Live. I have a PS3 and can tell you that this is the best online service, you can message, private chat, video chat, recommend online content to friend and much much more. When playing a game on live its like unlocking the other half of that game and you really get you're £40 worth then. I would also recommend a microphone if you plan to game with friends.
Xbox live is a must have for you're 360!
Worth every penny, 28 May 2008
Gives you so much more than just the single player games. Lets you keep in contact with mates and great to communicate whilst playing a game. Worth the money, especially now with the extra chapters on GTA IV available only to Xbox live subscribers!
X Box live is the best on line service BUT DONT BUY HERE.... YET!, 25 Apr 2008
Yup all who actually own / played / seen it in action know how much X Box live is!
GetXboxcodes however (sponsored link above the reviews bit) sells 13month codes for 360 (completley legit) and you dont spent any hidden costs!
Thats $47 which at the current rate of exchange means you are only spending £23.65!! This is a huge saving and unless you really like spending money then Id use them!
The best thing to happen to gaming, 22 Apr 2008
The Xbox 360 is a great console in its own right, but times are changing, people no longer want to play Ai, mindless enemies that although thanks to new technology adapt themselves to your style, don't have the heart of a real player.
Xbox live changes that. Almost every game is accessible to Xbox live, you can talk to friends via msn or the headset that comes with the console, view other players profiles, chat to them online and view gamerscores.
Xbox live is a world of never ending gaming, where a game can never get old, because no game is alike.
If your worried about the cost, and thinking about a Playstation 3, due to its free internet, consider this, not only does the Xbox get great online games such as halo 3 and Gears of war exclusive. But it gets new maps and new online updates before anyone else, take a good example, Call of Duty 4. New map packs have been released 21 days before the PS3.
But the fun doesn't stop their, your profile, offering the innovative gamerscore / achievements compares you to your friends in a new and different format. Gamertags and pictures can be bought fro the Xbox marketplace, along side HD ready films and new games.
Although, as with every service there are good points, there are some bad ones too, the market place only runs on a currency known as Microsoft points, forcing you to buy a certain amount as opposed to simply paying for your item.
Your money not only goes towards all this, but Microsoft run there own gaming services, unlike ps3 sports titles such as EA, this means the games always run smoothly, whilst ps3 servers, which are free to pay often lag and sometimes it is impossible to get a game, because Sony don't run their own services, and big companies don't want to lose money...
In short, Xbox live is an amazing online feat, offering you everything you could ever need for any type of gamer. Join the online revolution.

Overpriced, 24 Aug 2008
While this product does work very well from what I've seen, it's simply too expensive. Couple this with the £40 a gold membership costs, you'll end up paying roughly £100 just to get Live up and running. Those who can connect there's directly by wire don't need to worry as they don't have to shell out £50-£60 for this, but for people like me, who's 360 lies ever so far away from a wireless router, it's an extremely annoying hinderance.
Also take into account, the Wii has this built in, now, fair enough, the Wii's online service isn't as developed or as good as Live, but it's free and built in nevertheless. I don't mind paying for this product in general, but at £50-60 I find myself thinking that's it's just not worth the money.
Good but no WPA2, 20 Aug 2008
Simple to install, reliable, easy to configure BUT does NOT support WPA2 (supports WPA though). Even though there's an option on the 360 setup that says WPA2 (greyed out) this item does not support it whatever else you may hear. There's even a knowledgebase article on www.xbox.com apologizing for some incorrect manuals that claim that it does support it. Come on Microsoft, even my two year old Netgear WAP can do WPA2!
Second gripe is of course the price. Yes, it's very neat, matches the 360, configures easily and nicely clips onto the back of the machine, but is that really justification for TRIPLE the price of any other USB wireless adaptor? No, it's just a rip off. Sure put on some margin for the 360 badging, but times three? Get real.
Given the pain WiFi can be, the ease of setup gets this to score three stars. Would have been five, but high price loses one star and no WPA2 loses another.
Excellent Investment, 29 Jul 2008
True - £50-60 is a good deal of money to splash out on one little bit of kit. But boy, is it worth it! I can connect to Xbox LIVE wired or wirelessly, and the ONLY sure-fire way to connect without any wires is this little beauty.
The investment is definetly worth it. If you want/need wireless connection to LIVE, this is the way forward.
Job Done, 18 Jul 2008
I'm just going to reiterate what people here have been saying. I got this, plugged it in, it detected my network and I was online in a few minutes. DONE!
The reception is very good even between 2 walls and a ceiling. The instructions are rubbish but it's quite simple (go to network settings, EDit settings, Network Type (or something), input WEP key DONE!
The only real downside is the COST! However, this appears to be quality bit of kit & stops my wife from complaining about the wires.
Wireless bridge- costly, but reliable and worth it., 17 May 2008
How much of a hit this product will be with you depends on how simple you find it to set your console up to your network. It took me weeks. However, it took me weeks with a D-Link router, to work with with this bridge, and it never worked properly, but it took minutes to set it up with a netgear router. Since then it has worked fine, and opened up X-box live to me. Get it if:
You can't really get wired
You are good with computers and networks or know someone who is
You have a good router ( i recommend Netgear ADSL2)
((( I rated this products fun on xbox lives fun, and i took a star off for price and how long it took me to set it up.

Microsoft allow you to buy points via your credit card details and also by buying these points cards. These cards are ideal to give as a present to allow the receiver to buy items off the XBox 360 shop ie extras to games eg like more songs for Guitar Hero III/II or to download movies. They make an alternative type of present to a high street voucher.
RIP OFF!!!!!, 28 Jun 2007
You've already spent £280 on a console £40-50 per gamee, £60 on a wireless bridge,£40 for live membership and microsoft still want another £20 for two game dowloads, why should you pay this much fair enough they have developing costs but this is just microsoft ripping you off don't buy this if no-one buys this you'll force microsoft onto lowering the price.
It's Like Throwing Money Down A Stream Of Water!, 25 Jun 2007
So, it seems to me that Microsoft is on their knees begging for some cash. Well unfortunately with this card, I think they are going to get their request!
This card allows you to buy goods and items from the XBox Live Marketplace, if you have XBox Live. You can buy games such as Marble Blast Ultra, Zuma, Uno, Bejewelled 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989 Arcade), Frogger and much more! It doesn't end there as you can also buy Music Videos, Game Videos, Pictures, Game-Tracks, Demos and yet even more!
Although this sounds tasty, it doesn't satisfy the needs as you only have 2100 Points per card and most games cost 800 Points for a Full Version purchase. This means that you can only roughly get 2 Games per card! I did some rough calculations and for 60 Arcade Games all at 800 Points each. It will cost you £650!! That's the same as if you wanted Two Playstation 3 Consoles! So, you can tell that Microsoft is the scavenger!
My Grade For The Card: 5.5/10: Mediocre, Could Be Better, Not Bad But Not Brilliant
My Wish: I think for a price of £20, they should do a Points Card of 2,100,000 Points. I mean what can you exactly get with just 2100 Points?
Final Comments: It may be annoying going to the shop all the time and spending £20 just to get one of these cards, but if are intending to get games, pictures and videos for you're XBox 360, I'm afraid you're going to have to get a few of these. Just make sure you pick up a few. Otherwise you may miss your chance! It's a race for cards!!

Haven't received a valid code yet, 08 May 2008
I've bought 2 of these from this site, the second one being a replacement, and both times the code has been invalid.
Adds To The Fun, 29 Mar 2008

The only controller to buy, 28 Jul 2008
The truth is that I was never too big on controllers, but having got a hold of GRID and Lego Indiana Jones, I decided that needed one.
This is THE controller, if you don't already have one, or are not looking for a specialist type, I highly recommend this one!
Pro's: Great design, comfortable in the hands, new games come with in built compatibility (no need to set the keys), great for football, action, platform and driving games, very responsive, same standard as an Xbox 360 controller. No need for batteries, drivers install in a minute. Can be used as a second controller if you have an Xbox 360, the wire means that you don't accidentally turn on the Xbox when you use it.
Con's: It wasn't available a few years ago.
Tested on: Race Driver Grid, Lego Indiana Jones, Devil May Cry 4, Pro Evolution Soccer 4
Overall: Excellent, if you want a controller, this is it.
Great controller, 21 Jun 2008
I love the design of the 360 controller, its chunky but not too big, and its not at all heavy. Its comfortable to hold for long periods too.
Some reviews have comnplained about the vibration not working on that many games, but that is entirley dependant on the game not the controller, so this cant be blamed on the controller.
Another review I have read complains the analogue triggers don't work on GTA. Well if this review refers to San Andreas, since GTA4 is not on PC yet, that game does not have analogue accelerator.brake controls, it is digital, again not a fault of the controller.
Perhaps my main gripe with the pad is the oddly positioned left analogue stick. For me I would prefer the analogues to be adjacent to one another as I do get a little thumb ache in my left thumb.
Apart from that this is a great controller and highly recommended
Correct Drivers, 28 May 2008
In order to get the most out of this you need the right drivers - if you google "XBCD 360" you get the correct drivers for this model (if you get just the standard xbcd drivers you can have a lot of problems).
The drivers eliminate the problems other people had (i.e. all buttons work independantly, both analogue sticks work separately, triggers can be set to analogue).
Glad I spent the extra cash to get something of decent quality, would recommend to anyone looking for a decent controller.
Just superb..., 31 Mar 2008
I only use this gamepad for Fifa 08 on PC, but it is utterly brilliant for playing with. I bought a cheap gamepad before and Fifa did not let half of the shoulder buttons work, or the right analog stick, but it is fine with this gamepad. I might have to check out this other drivers to get vibration function however...
I dont intend to use this for FPS games such as Far Cry or CS Source as I believe mouse and keyboard is better
However I believe this is a great purchase as the quality of the item is robust and will certainly have a long life, and if I buy an Xbox 360 in the future [likely], then I have a gamepad to use...
If you're looking for a quality gamepad, then this is the one for you
Excellent controller , 18 Dec 2007

Very reliable and user-friendly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a pc controller.
perfect! , 16 Aug 2008
Advantages: everything!
Disadvantages: doesn't come with a rechargeable battery...
I've liked games for a long time, since I was a little kid. I've used a lot of controllers before; pretty much all the Nintendo consoles, SEGA Consoles, all the Playstations and the original Xbox.
I use to be a Playstation man, but after my PS2 broke two times with laser errors, I had enough with Playstations and decided to get an Xbox. I remember waiting in the day it was meant to arrive, and I eagerly opened up the box and set it up. As soon as my hands clutched the Xbox controller (please note I purchased the Xbox a while after its release and my Xbox was shipped with the newer Mini S Controller), I fell in love with it. After my good experience with the original Xbox, I had to get a 360!
The Xbox 360's standard controller (both wired which is shipped out with the Arcade version of the console and the wireless version which is shipped out with the Premium and Elite version) fits in everyone's hands perfectly. When I say everyone's, I mean everyone's - from mine, to my girlfriends, my dads, and even my two younger sisters who are 8 and 13. They're suitable for the whole family!
The controls can usually be picked up from any shop that sells games, the odd supermarket and of course the world wide web! You can get them from Play.com for £29.99 with free delivery, and normally pick them up used at about £20. Although, I do recommend buying the 'Wireless Entertainment Pack' from Amazon.co.uk, you can buy it new from a marketplace seller for about £30 which includes Forza 2 and Viva Piñata.
Now the reason I mentioned how much the wireless controls are so early on in the review, is because I know most people (and me at first) think the controls are really expensive for what they are... But they ARE worth it. They're made of an incredibly strong plastic, i've dropped it a few times, or accidentally flicked it off my duvet covers on to my wooden floor but there's not a mark to be seen. On hard impact, the controller does usually turn off, but never have I experienced any problems - and besides if you're in a middle of a game and you drop your controller, if it turns off it pauses your game automatically!
I personally own both a black and white 360 controller, one of which was shipped out with my Elite console and the other with my wireless entertainment pack, which I got for £20 brand new as a deal when I purchased my Elite console from Amazon.co.uk. You can now also get the controllers in baby blue and baby pink for the same price from Play.com. There are also two Halo Limited Edition controllers, a Spartan one and a Covenant one (play Halo if you don't know what I'm on about!) which are about £10 more expensive.
So, now the buttons. There are four buttons which are located on the very top of the controller. The back two are known as triggers, and labelled LT & RT (Left Trigger & Right Trigger). These are commonly used for throwing grenades and shooting in first person shooters, brake/reverse and accelerate in racing games, rotating the camera angle in strategy games and skipping menus in the main Xbox 360 menus. The two buttons in front of this are known as LB & RB (which I imagine are Left Back & Right Back). These buttons don't really have any common commands... On the front of the controller are another ten buttons if you count the joysticks. I'll list them from left to right: Left Joystick, D-Pad, Back, Xbox 360 Guide, Start, Right Joystick and then of course some of command buttons, X, Y, A & B. The left and right joystick are of course for moving forward and backwards, and moving around, and a lot of the time (if playing a first person shooter) clicking the joysticks makes your character crouch or lay. The D-Pad is the old fashioned way of moving around, this isn't used for that much any more, but some games do support it. However, the D-Pad is more commonly used to change weapons, or even formations in sport simulation games. I find it's easier to search through the menus using the D-Pad sometimes, as I get carried away using the joystick and always end up scrolling past the option I want to select. The back and start button explain themselves, I hope! And the command buttons do different things in every game, although 'A' does always select options in the menus.
The Xbox Guide button, I love it! I won't go into too much detail of what the menu does when you access it using this button, but lets just say from this menu you can see how much battery power your controller has, what Xbox Live profile you're signed into, how many buddies you have online, how many new messages, easy access to your voice conversations and windows live messenger, what music you're listening too and the simple commands such as play/pause, stop, skip forward/backward and of course the option to quit the game and go to the main Xbox 360 Dashboard. The Xbox Guide button also has a light ring around it, which is split into quarters to show what controller you are using. For example, if you had another controller turned on, one would recommend controller one (the top left light would show) and the other would recommend controller two (the top right light would show).
The battery life is incredibly good, it lasts a good forty hours on a good pair of AA batteries, but of course you can use a battery pack which you can buy in matching colours for about £10. You then buy a lead known as 'Plug & Play' which plugs straight in to one of your 360's USB Ports so you can charge your controller whilst playing. You can also get a battery pack charger where you can attach up to two of your battery packs and fully charge them within a few hours. Unfortunately you can only get the charger in white, so if you're hoping to get one to match your elite console, you're out of luck! I personally use two rechargeable batteries in mine which I regularly charge overnight - I found this was a cheaper option as I already had the batteries and charger! The battery case/pack easily clips on to the back of the controller, and can be easily removed by holding down a button and pulling the battery off.
There's another tiny button on top of the control, which simply connects your controller to your 360. Although you can only connect your controller to one 360 at a time, so keep that in mind if you can't get your controller to work if you take it to a friends house!
There are two ports on the controller, one on the top and one on the bottom. The top is simply to connect the controller to a plug and play wire to charge the controller, and the other is so you can plug a headset in - although I recommend you buy a wireless headset (read my headset review if you want to know why)!
Overall, this is most definitely the best console controller I've ever used. It's comfortable, it fits in your hands perfectly, the buttons are easily accessible and don't hurt your hands after long periods of play (unlike the PS2/PS3's joysticks)! It looks excellent and fits in with the 360's style perfectly. If you don't have a 360, but play a lot of games on your Windows PC, I recommend getting the Microsoft 360 Controller for Windows, which is also wireless!
The Technical Stuff:
-2.4GHz wireless technology with 30-foot range.
-Lag-free play.
-Integrated headset port for Xbox LIVE play.
-Adjustable vibration feedback for longer battery life.
-New left and right shoulder buttons are designed for ease of use.
-The Xbox Guide Button at the centre of the controller gives you quick access to all your favourite Xbox 360 system activities.
Summary: best controller known to man, don't buy any other!
One Big Flaw, 04 May 2008
Attractive, comfortable, nice weight and welcome inclusion of rumble all make this a great controller. Unfortunately, I can only give it three stars due to - and bare with me, fanboys, till you see my reasoning - the PS3 controller.
I won't compare the layouts of the controllers because that comes down to personal preference. Some are more comfortable with Microsoft's layout and some with Sony's - that's up to you - and Sony's is only lighter due to the lack of dualshock.
The Sixaxis functionality of the PS3 controller is also yet to be properly implemented - there are some good attempts and some abject failures - but it does add an extra element to games and can be fun. And the one advantage the 360 controller currently has over the PS3 - namely the rumble - is about to be cancelled out by the DualShock Sixaxis, which is on its way.
However, my main issue with the 360's wireless controller is the fact that it takes two AA batteries. The Sixaxis has an internal battery that is charged (relatively quickly, even when in use) directly from the system via a standard USB cable as you play. In this day-and-age of advanced gaming technology, I'd have expected the same to be standard with the 360, but it in fact costs an extra £12.99.
Of course, if you've got a 360, then this is the controller for you, it's just a shame to have to fork out extra money for something that should have been standard.
Nice controller, could be better., 02 May 2008
It's nicer now that Microsoft have thought to make a smaller controller, and while it's still not that small, it fits nicely into the palms. Battery life is excellent, but is also where it loses a star. The controller is not rechargable, and it is necessary to buy a charger kit and optional extra rechargable batteries in order for it to be so. This isn't nice, seeing as the controller isn't really cheap in the first place. It does also tend to switch itself off from time to time with certain games when the battery life is low, and to ge the most out of your AAs, you end up pressing the big X button every 5 minutes.
All this said, a controller, in this case, is a controller, and there's not much more to it. In short, a good piece of equipment, but you may need to spend a little more than you expected.
Clever microsoft, 27 Mar 2008
the new controller for the 360 is sheer genius. The lack of wires helps gameplay and the battery life is v long. I would reccomend the quick charge kit and another rechargable pack too. the controls feel intuitive and well layed out and having a direct link to the consoles menu is clever too. However the grey strip along the bottom does absorb liquid and passing controller around is not very good. On the plus side multiple controllers can be used together easily as the big Xbox logo tells whos player one. This means no following wires (there are none!) as on my old PS2 and minimal confusion. Give yourselves a pat on the back microsoft!
Cheap Plastic - Bad quality, 10 Mar 2008
Please take a second to give a good review. I purchased the Elite 360 package and day 1 started the game and within 10 minutes, the right joystick started to lock! the trigger was making creaky noise and the console tray where you put the DVD is another piece of cheap plastic. looks like all's made and shipped from china or something..
no doubt the console itself is amazing - and the games are superb - but the quality of the product is very very bad! i have the original xbox and the controllers over there are perfectly solid!!! Just because it's XBOX, it doesnt mean that all's rose & wine! - very dissapointed for the money i paid!

Customer Reviews
Haven't received a valid code yet, 08 May 2008
I've bought 2 of these from this site, the second one being a replacement, and both times the code has been invalid.
Adds To The Fun, 29 Mar 2008
I mean what ca | | |
