Best portable golf sim, 27 Dec 2004
This is possibly the best golf game on a handheld ever made, really excellent. The graphics aren't astonishing but they're good enough, and it's the gameplay that's the real star. The interface is wonderfully intuitive, especially the way swings are handled: Normally golf sims have a "click twice" system but on the N-gage version you move the joypad down and then up in one smooth motion. The power and swing of the shot are determined by how you move it up and down, which feels much much more natural than just "Click click". Another nice thing is the online gameplay, you can go up against people all round the world on the internet and compete to get to the top of the leagues.

Good mission based racing game, 26 Oct 2005
Glimmerati is a stylish if slightly cheesy mission based racing game. You complete driving challenges such as getting a passenger from point A to point B in a set time, compete in out & out races and complete other tasks. All these contribute to your personal rating allowing you to improve your reputation and give you the funds to get better cars to race in. The game includes a mixture of cut scenes, which include real speech, and top down arcade style racing. The pacing is good and the learning curve is just right. One of the best features for me is the ease with which you can repeat a mission or race if you are not successful the first time, you just select it from the 2 options that appear at the end and off you go, there is none of the 3 lives and you have to go all the back to the begining again rubbish seen in too many other games. I have yet to finish the game so these views are based on my experience with it so far, but I have to say I'm impressed based on what I have seen, and would recommend others giving it a try.

Weirdly addictive Massively Multiplayer Online game by Sega, 27 Dec 2004
This is a very strange game but it's also incredibly addictive. Having this with you all the time is just the best way of killing time ever invented, as you don't need to spend very long on a particular battle (they usually have timelimits of 30 to 90 seconds) but you can spend hours at a time upgrading your units and wandering around the landscape finding new armies to beat. You upgrade your units a bit like Pokemon, they evolve into their new forms, but unlike Pokemon experience isn't enough, they only evolve when they're fed the right Emblem. You create Emblems by combining items you find in the world (such as jewels, leaves, metals etc) and experimenting and finding the right recipes to make your units evolve is one of the key parts of the gameplay. Pocket Kingdom is Massively Multiplayer Online which means thousands of real people all around the world control armies wandering about the place, and (thanks to the n-gage's mobile internet connection) you can play against them anywhere which is especially good on the bus, on a train etc. The world rankings of all the players is displayed on the N-gage Arena service (which is like the N-gage's equivalent of Xbox Live). There's also a built-in special version of the Arena Launcher which lets you read and post to the Arena message boards, chat to other players, read news and hints etc. Sega worked on this for 2 years and the whole thing feels wonderfully unique... it's definitely the best portable game Sega has ever done. The one drawback is the menu system which can sometimes be a bit frustrating (you have to buy items individually rather than being able to buy them in bulk for example), and getting started on the Emblems is a bit too difficult. Here's the first one to start you off: Warrior Emblem = Rankup Mold, Copper, Garnet and Black Leaf I'd take off half a star if I could for the fiddly menus, but as it is there's so much good stuff in the rest of the game I'm leaving it as 5 stars: one of the best portable games ever.
The new addiction for every N-Gage owner?, 10 Dec 2004
Impressive - possibly the first must-have game for the N-Gage, and I expect that it will be, to many people, a reason to buy one (like FF7 and the original Playstation, or Halo and the X-Box). Finally, a game which takes advantage of the N-Gage's mobile technology, instead of being an inferior GBA or PSX port. The offline part is very interesting, but the online part is limitless... Basically, you buy units, equip them, set tactics, and send them into battles. They get experience, and collect loot and items... and you can use them to make better weapons and objects. The crafting system is impressive - apparently, there are more than 50.000 working combinations. And the game certainly has the "just one more battle" syndrome - and, since the N-Gage is also my cell phone, I can do one anywhere, any time.

SSX is a fun game. it has reasonably good graphics, and is fun to play. especially fun to play over bluetooth. however on conquer the mountain it is a little easy to complete with no real challanges. all in all it is a fun game and is worth buying, but only if you are into the extreme sports genre.

after playing the other FPS games on the n-gage, i was wary about whetehr or not 'Ashen' would hold up, and to be honest i was surprised. I spent and entire day t my friends house ignoring him and staring at my n-gage simply because i gto my self hooked on this game. It may not be graphically superior, and, honestly, the game play is just a basic FPS game, but somehow 'Ashen' caught my interest and just mde me want to keep pushing it, sure you can only save at the end of the level, but that jsut made it more satisfying when you finished each of them. I personally would say, if you own an n-gage you should at least give this game a try.
Good if you like FPSes, a bit difficult if you don't, 07 Jan 2005
I'm not a First Person Shooter fan so I guess this isn't the kind of game that's aimed at me, but I didn't really enjoy Ashen as much as I thought I would. It's got excellent polished graphics but the gameplay is a bit frantic for anyone new to the FPS genre and the fact that you can only save at the end of a level makes it very difficult to progress very far if you're a newbie. The learning curve is too steep. That said, if you're a FPS nut maybe this is for you, although the best shooter on n-gage at the moment is probably Ghost Recon.

Graphics Good,game-play poor, 23 Oct 2005
This game should have been so much better. I understand the limitations of the n-gage but playing fifa 2004 is like playing a computer football game from the earlie 90's. The players move sluggishly and it takes so long to move between two players that the oposition tend to score on every other attack.Graphics are good but the gameplay makes this very frustraiting.
FIFA 2004 (Nokia N-Gage), 24 Jan 2004
Just got this game and it's great - remember this is a n-gage game and graphics are excellent and game play is brilliant. All round good quality game - I f you love sports games this is the one.."It's in the game"
VERY GOOD, 23 Dec 2003
This game is great!I really liked it!Its a good football game.Totally 3d.If u like football games this one is good. The grafics are normal because this is only a n-gage game....not a pc game....u can not expect the same. But it is a very good game for the N-Gage.

Disappointing, 21 Dec 2004
This was one of the early games on the N-gage and it shows. If you want a first-person shooter for the N-gage then Ashen is a much more solid effort, with superior graphics and a smoother framerate.
Just not good enough!, 06 Dec 2004
I was very disapponted by this game when it arrived. It's problem is that it just isn't any good. The two biggest issues with are the confusing graphics and the sloppy controls. Here's how it goes - you walk around a corner, guard sees you before you see him (because of the rubbish graphics), he shoots you, you take hits whilst fumbling around trying to get a lock on him, you eventually shoot him and then repeat all this with the next one (and the next one). N64 Goldeneye it ain't! There are quite simply too many lacklustre games on this console and this is yet another one. Despite me owing one, I think it deserves it's fate - which is to slowly die off (as it is doing now). The wife's got me an Nintendo GBA SP for Christmas.
Great handheld game!!, 09 Oct 2003
Take a look at the screens... Everything you see in them can be blown apart! You can blow through walls to create multiple routes to your goals. How cool is that. Red faction is the N-Gages first 3D shooter and is shaping up great. The graphics in this game are amazing considering they are on a handheld and in 3D. The textures are a bit bland but what does that matter when you can blow it all up with 12 unique, selectable weapons (including a rocket launcher). There are a few control issue. With no shoulder buttons strafing is quite hard but manageable, and the Goldeneye style handling (move and look around with the same analogue stick)is ok but not great on an 8-way d-pad.

Sound game, 09 May 2005
SSX is a fun game. it has reasonably good graphics, and is fun to play. especially fun to play over bluetooth. however on conquer the mountain it is a little easy to complete with no real challanges. all in all it is a fun game and is worth buying, but only if you are into the extreme sports genre.

Splitter Cell isn't just another game on n-gage game deck it's an adventure
Splinter Cell is good, 14 Dec 2003
For anyone who has played the gba version of splinter cell this is almost the same game. The game is a 2d scroller like the java versions but the sprites are much improved, indeed Sam Fisher looks almost 3d in some cases. The game is about an NSA operative called Sam Fisher doing his daily job of infiltration and adventure. The game itself runs smoothly and is as far as i can see the same storyline as the gba version. The thing that sets it apart is the mulitplayer. Unlike the last gba port of sonic N where the multiplayer aspect was removed, Gameloft have added a multiplayer mode for the N-gage to use over bluetooth, well 2 modes. 1 is a co-operative version of the main game and one is a sniper game. I have not played it myself but I expect both are good examples of co-operative and vs play. This was a great game on the gba and nothing has changed here about the gameply, it is still very good with added touches of the locks and safe subgames. A very good addition to the up and comin N-gage library.

Let down by poor screen arrangement, 01 Sep 2006
I normally love the Crash karting games. They are fast and great fun. Sadly this version is hampered by a very poor screen area. The effect of this is to make it almost impossible to see where you are going because the view into the distance is non existant. As well as this some of the buttons are hard to use on the N-Gage. making it difficult to activate weapons, or other effects. A shame as it looks like it could have been so much better.

Splitter Cell (Nokia N-Gage0, 24 Jan 2004
Jerky graphics but good gameplay, 07 Jan 2005
This is a totally new Elder Scrolls game plotwise but gameplay is pretty much like the PC original (which is an achievement in itself for a portable console). There aren't clans in it but the levels are huge and freeform, and everything takes place in full 3D. The graphics are a bit inconsistent, occasionally slowing to a crawl, but the game itself isn't the kind that's spoilt irreparably by slowdown and once you get into it it's pretty rewarding. The n-gage is capable of better graphics than this (see Colin Mcrae for example) but it's good enough, and hopefully they'll do a better job on Shadowkey 2. It feels like Elder Scrolls which is the important thing, for me anyway.

Sound game, 09 May 2005
SSX is a fun game. it has reasonably good graphics, and is fun to play. especially fun to play over bluetooth. however on conquer the mountain it is a little easy to complete with no real challanges. all in all it is a fun game and is worth buying, but only if you are into the extreme sports genre.
nice, 28 Sep 2005
after playing the other FPS games on the n-gage, i was wary about whetehr or not 'Ashen' would hold up, and to be honest i was surprised.
